Name: Cure
Gender: Mare
Age: 3
Region: Runner, formerly South
Physical Appearance: Though she's still rather young, Cure has a grown mare's beauty. Her build is slim and refined, with lean muscles and long, delicate legs. Her head is delicately dished but a tad too long, with large, round eyes, and slightly curved ears. Her coat is a deep, rich red. Her head is solid white on the left half and the right half is the same color as the rest of her coat. Her mane and tail are curly and long; the ends of her mane brush her knees, and her tail tip is just a few inches above the ground. Both are a slightly darker shade of red than her coat, streaked with dark gold and sprinkled with white hairs.
Personality: Cure is naturally shy and nervous; her fear of recapture has only intensified these traits. Though this might make her look like a bit of a chicken, Cure can be brave when the situation requires it. Her quiet and submissive demeanor belies an intelligence and craftiness that surpasses that of the average young mare.
History: Cure, like pretty much any other southern mare, was born to an enslaved mother, Casket, and her owner. Her sire never allowed the mothers to keep their foals, for fear that they would develop a bond and attempt escape later on. Instead he kept the foals gathered up in a little meadow, sending in random mares to nurse as was required. He traded her to a neighboring stallion for one of his mares when she was a weanling. Said stallion gave her to his mares to raise. They did their best to mold her into a fair slave, teaching her manners and how to serve her new master. The stallion seemed to forget that Cure was there; whenever he required a mare, he always sent for one of the others. Cure was allowed to grow unmolested for a year and a half, doing her best to not attract attention to herself. When she was two and a half, her master inadvertently brought Casket and Cure together when he traded one of his daughters for the mare. Casket knew Cure to be her daughter at the sight of her mane, which was as curly and red as her own. Casket, tired of being treated like chattel, plotted to escape, and convinced Cure to come with her. They snuck out of the slave quarters around midnight, shortly after Cure's third birthday. The pair were halfway out of the territory before they were discovered. The master sent stallions to bring them back. The hunters caught up to them. Casket hung back to distract them and was recaptured. Cure still runs free, searching for safe haven.
