Name | Solstice
Gender | Mare
Age | 4
Region | South
Physical Appearance | Marwari and Friesian heritage is evident in every muscle of her body. Although she stands at a mere 15 hands, her strength is apparent in the width of her chest, depth of her rib cage and the circumference of her cannon bones. Baroque in build with a grandly arched neck and powerful hindquarters, she could pass for a full blooded Friesian if not for her chiseled features, inward-curving ear tips and exotic coat color. Her black mane and white tail are long and lustrous and her coat shimmers in the light with healthful iridescence. Almost entirely white, her face and hind legs reveal her rich blood bay base color and exhibit primitive dun markings in the form of a thick dorsal stripe and leg barring. Her eyes, like deep, clear pools littered with sapphires, glitter with an inner charisma.
Personality | Despite a gentle and soft-spoken nature, Solstice has a naturally authoritative aura surrounding her, commanding respect and attention from her subordinates without having to say a word... this quality sometimes also inspiring strong dislike from jealous mares who want her rank in the herd. Slow to anger and even slower to let go of a grudge, she is generally compassionate and kind yet can be ruthless to those deserving of her severe justice. Loyal to a fault, reverent of love, intelligent and fearless, an excellent forager and skilled fighter, she is a natural born leader who steps up to her calling during times of need. It is a surprise then that she bends her will to whichever stallion dominates her and has strong mothering instinct. She is generally liked by all. Can be very seductive and flirtatious with stallions.
History | Previously the chosen concubine of a powerful lead stallion whom she did not love, her mate was dethroned in battle and her herd disbanded. There were rumors that she would take the herd as her own and go to the West, but instead obediently remained in the South. It remains to be seen if she will seek out a herd and work her way back to the top, or if she will allow herself to be claimed and accept whichever rank is assigned.
