Helena had thought being a slave was the worst pain there was, she was wrong. This pregnancy was like going through hell. She had been sick the whole time, feeling weak and like she was on the edge of death. She had been in labor for hours, maybe even a day or more. Helena was in pain now too, the contractions had become unbearable to her.
Helena stopped at the edge of the birthing quarry, her escort close to her. If only she could be left alone for even a second she would try to run. She didn't have a plan, and being sick had slowed her greatly. But after this foal was born and she was feeling better, she would try again. Looking at her escort with hate in her blue orbs she bared her ivories as she spoke. Are you going to leave me in peace to birth this foal or are you going to stand over me? Venom was in every word, enough to kill. She hated her Master and his son more than anything in this evil world she lived in. Another pain struck her and she averted her gaze to the ground. She couldn't wait to get this evil spawn out of her.

Niacin escorted Helena to the Birthing Quarry. She was finally to have his child. He was a bit worried though. She had been sick throughout her entire pregnancy. He hoped it was only affecting her and not the baby. His other babies had been healthy. If this mare made his next foal unhealthy she would regret it. He knew it would be okay though. His foals were born strong and healthy. Ekon had a bum leg, but it was already getting better as he was growing older. Niacin was certain he would grow out of it by the time he turned three. Helena was overcome with more pain as she stepped into the Quarry. He smiled at her, enjoying her pain. He caused this! She shot venomous words at him, but they didn't bother him. I will be at the edge of the land watching you. I will turn away for the birth. I don't want to see that, but I will be watching you every second after. He took his place at the edge of the land. Keeping his word he turned away as she got ready to birth.

With a snort Helena, her ears pined flat against her neck, walked until she found a place as far as she could get from Niacin. She kept in sight of him so he had no reason to come after her, but far enough away to feel a little better. She lowered herself to the ground, laying her head on the ground and closing her eyes. This was her first foal, but she wasn't worried at all. If the foal was born dead she couldn't care less, and if she died? At least she had her freedom. She laid there, the contractions becoming stronger until the urge to push overwhelmed her. She groaned in pain and discomfort, she didn't what Niacin to have the satisfaction that the birthing was hell for her. So she did everything she could to keep from crying out. Squeezing her eyes shut she pushed and pushed, a small whimper escaping her maw. She didn't bother to look up and see her foal she just wanted it out.
Clinching her teeth, nares flared she pushed until the little monster was out then she laid there as still as she could be. She though maybe, after she had birthed this thing she could run, but no her body was too weak. She took a few deep and slow breaths then raised her head to look at her foal he was large for her but looked thin. Just then the foals head popped up and looked around but not really looking at anything. Helena stood up turning to look at Niacin her eyes aflame with hate. But then she looked at her foal. A colt, and pretty looking colt. But that was just his color, his overall look was sad, weak at best. As Helena continued to look at her foal she started to realize, it was Niacin's fault this colt was here, but the colt was not to blame. Slowly she started to love her son, so small and helpless. But when he looked her way she saw a look in his eyes, or rather the lack there of. Blind. She whispered to herself. A tear escaped her eye then from the pain and now this. Her colt was blind. She moved to him and started to clean him, then nudging him to get up and nurse.
half an hour past before the colt could stand, and that was just standing. Taking one step he toppled over eyes wide and tiny nares flared with fear. Helena cooed to him, called him to rise so he tried again, and again.... and again. The fourth time though he was able to stand and walk to his mothers side to nurse. Helena nuzzled him then looked back at Niacin for a moment before turning back to her foal. He could barely walk let alone run, and he was blind. Helena knew Niacin would not be happy with either of them. But the time to show her son to his father had come. She looked at her boy, she needed a name first. She thought for a long moment before she looked at the colt, Your name will be Vulcan She said with a sad smile. Then she looked at Niacin once more before she started walking back to him. Vulcan following very close to his mother. He listened to her keeping his head nearly touching her body.

They had been there for days. He was starting to get ansy. He didn't like being away from the land for so long. He kept looking in the land though and saw that she was still there, still birthing. After a few days he saw another figure join her. His foal. He couldn't wait to meet him or her. He didn't care what it was. As long as it was healthy enough to run the herd or be traded. He watched as the foal worked on feeding. It was taking it awhile. Did Helena's pregnancy sickness affect the foal? He would beat her if it did. Soon he saw them heading towards him. He stayed where he was, interested in meeting his newest foal. Soon the fate of his herd would once more be changed.

Stopping in front of Niacin, Helena's ears pinned back once again. Hate in her heart and fire in her eyes. Even with a blind and weak foal it would not stop her from fighting the weight of Niacin's power over her. She did not lower her head or her gaze, she stared right at him when she spoke. I've had a son Niacin. A blind son. She was not going to be shy in telling him of her colts weaknesses. She loved her colt yes, but if she had the chance to fight or run she just might take it. Then she looked at her boy and her heart melted. Could she really leave such a poor and weak little thing? He was innocent of his father guilt, but she knew under the eyes of Niacin he would come to be like Viggen. Or would Niacin kill him for being blind? If that was to be, Helena only had one choice... Vulcan The world had been warm and dark. Now it was cold, but still dark. Eyes darted but saw nothing. He could hear a voice, his mothers, she called him Vulcan. She felt warm and good when he was close to her so he stayed as close to her as he could get. He heard her speak again but not to him. He looked in the direction he thought was where the other was but moved closer to his mother. Legs still shaking his body was weak and he just wanted to lay down and sleep. But with all the commotion he felt to frightened to rest.

He saw them finally heading towards him. He could already tell there was something wrong with the foal. It was walking funny and seemed really weak on his legs. Maybe it was just the fact that he was still getting used to them. Helena, full of hatred, looked him in the eyes and told him the news. His rage boiled over. He looked at his son, no at filth. What good is a blind son? He wouldn't be able to learn anything and he wouldn't be able to watch any mares. He would never be able to have children. He was good for nothing. Niacin reared. You gave me a blind son you good for nothing! I'm done with you. I know a stallion who will take any mare. He doesn't care about breeding, he cares about work. You and your good for nothing son will work until you die. For all I care he is dead to me. He is no son of mine. He grabbed Helena roughly by the neck and dragged her back toward Southern Lands. He didn't care if her son would follow. A blind stallion was never any good for anything.
I speak; I thinkOOC/Notes:I'm gonna have him give Helena to my stallion Devin who actually liberates mares. If that's okay with you. Just let me know and I will try to get the thread up tomorrowCredits: Picture by Endless
