Adrenaline pumped through her system as she ran. Open cuts and fresh wounds covered her body, she was just now started to feel them as sweat trickled into them. The black fae had lost track of how long she had been running. The only thing she was sure of, was the direction she was going. The thought of her returning home in the west brought an excited grin to her face. She violently sucked wind into her lung in an effort to cool them off. Surely it wouldn't be that much longer. Calista didn't want to stop until she got out of Southern land.
The memories of what had happend earlier that afternoon came flooding back to her. That morning, her master informed her that they would be traveling north today to go and breed. She had responded with a polite grin and a kurt nod, but in her mind she began plotting her escape. It would have to work this time. It was pure luck that he had decided to travel alone with her. Once the pair was far enough away from the herd to give her a head start, she attacked the stallion. Of course he was stronger than she, so she took on heavy damage. She made it appear as if she was going to make a run for it, but instead she planted for a rear kick. The black mare caught her former master on the side of his face. It was enough to render him unconscious, and give her time to escape.
That had been hours ago, and she had put a long distance between herself and her former captors. Now, the immediate threat was being caught by a different stallion or group. She would be in no shape to fight any more. Her muscles were already almost exhausted. Plus she would have to stop and clean out her wounds sooner or later ... but if she could just keep running.
Each herd had a common scent as a group. When the smell was at its strongest, she believed she was in the middle of the territory. It was less noticeable towards the borders. This herds scent started to decrease, so hopefully she was almost out of the territory. The herd on this land was by far one of the biggest she had passed through. It increased her odds of meeting someone. The thought that she was still in danger was enough to make her increase her speed. Her muscles protested, but she pushed forward anyways. She was going to make it home. She knew she would. Calista had gotten too far for her to be recaptured.
All she could do ... was run.

DEVIN Devin was lurking in the land. He knew he shouldn't be. He wasn't ready for a fight if he got caught, but he just had to come. He had heard the stallion who ran this herd was the worst of the worst. It was where Rain and her daughter were saved from. He hoped to save a mare from this herd. It will be his first save, his first mare. She wouldn't really be his though. She would be free to do as she pleased. He soon heard hoofbeats and tensed. He was done for. He was about to run from the land, thinking he would check the Birthing Quarry when he spotted a mare running. He couldn't see that anyone was chasing her yet, but saw the wounds still fresh. He could smell her fear and knew he had to take action. He stepped out from behind the rock he was hiding behind and put a gentle expression on his face. He knew he would scare her, but he hoped it wasn't too bad. I know I will frighten you, but please hear me out. I am a Southern Stallion, but unlike any you will know. I save mares from their capters. My home is a place where mares don't have to work, don't have be breed, and they can come and go as they please. I see that you are hurt. I want to offer you a safe place to heal. You do not have to stay with me, but you need to rest in peace. This is not a land to be on. The stallion that runs this herd is the worst of the worst. Decide quickly, will you come with me or will you risk entrapment? If you come with me I will escort you to where ever you want to go after you have healed. He hoped she could hear the sincerity in his voice. He wanted to help her, but would not force her to go with him. He quickly looked around. No one else was to be seen.

Her whole body hurt. She couldn't even feel her open wounds anymore, the adrenaline had helped that. But her muscles ached. It was likely that she had never used them this much in a short period of time in her entire life. But at least she was making progress. It was enough to keep her going at least. The running part was rhythmic, and if her muscles didn't burn, she could almost fall asleep. She concentrated on the ground in front of her, not exactly paying attention to the road ahead.
A flash of movement was enough to catch her attention. She ripped her head up to see what it was. A stallion had stepped out of a hidden location. "Oh no ... they've headed me off. This is an ambush!" Her thoughts screamed. She jerked away to make a wide circle around him. She hadn't intended on slowing down at all. If anything she sped up. But the first of his words finally reached her when she quite a bit of a way off. She slowed down, and turned to face him. But she continued walking backwards. This was the first time she had walked since she began her journey. He saved mares? Where was this guy two years ago?
When she tried to talk, her lungs didn't have any air to give her. So the words that actually came out, sounded quite frantic. "I appreciate your offer .... but you would be better .... finding someone .... who needs your assistance ... more than I do. I saved myself ... but I can't stop yet ... it's too soon ... He'll be following me ... I'm not sure how big of a head start I got ..." It annoyed her that she had to explain her life story to this stallion. Couldn't he tell that she was a little preoccupied. And if he was right about the herd in this territory, he should have been running too.
She was tired of explaining, so she skipped the end of her story. "I got to go ..." She turned around and began building her pace up once more. It was a slow transition but she eventually made it up to a lope. In the time that she had stopped, her muscles tensed up, so it was that much more difficult to move now. Hopefully they would loosen in a moment or two.

DEVIN She veered away from him at first, but stopped when his words reached her. Would she go with him? He hoped. He didn't see her lasting very long. She was still deep into southern lands and would be for awhile. He didn't want anything to happen to her. She stopped and spoke to him without catching her breath. Rejection. He sighed, but respected her wishes. Good luck. I hope you make it to wherever you are going safely. He turned away and went back home as she was starting to move again.

Viggen was out looking around making sure none of the mares got any bright ideas on trying to escape. He would hate to lose one that was carrying a foal and so lose the chance at getting an heir or sibling. He totally laughed at poor Cybele she was really struggling to even keep upright. Viggen knew that Niacin's draft blood was very apparent and poor Cybele being as small as she was, was struggling. Now he sniffed the wind and that was when he picked up another horse it didn't belong to no one that was living here, this was an intruder and not just any intruder but a mare. Oh yes another fresh cow to add to the herd and then to make her carry a foal, right after Viggen gifted her to his sire. He needed to act and act fast or otherwise this mare would slip past and out of Hidden Oasis. Viggen then began to stalk the prey and to put himself between the cliffs and this mare, that way she would have to go through him in order to even have a shot at escaping.
That is when Viggen seen the mare through an opening from some trees she was almost as big as Viggen and similar build so she must have mixed parents like himself. Viggen was now totally enthused and now plotting on how best to cut her off and then keep her here until his sire came to then claim her. Viggen then lumbered forward until he was right in front of the darker mare. He then said.
" My, my what do we have here? A lovely little mare that looks like she is quite lost. I'm Viggen and so what is your name?"
If this mare went and refused to give her name then Viggen would go and get rough. He was liking that she was already hurt and weak so would be easier to subdue if a fight did happen to prevent her from running from him. He was wondering if his sire would keep this one though as Helena, Niacin got rid of as soon as he found out she gave him a blind colt. If his sire did went and got rid of this mare here then that would be the last one Viggen would ever gift to his sire. He then waited for a reply from this intruder or an excuse to act if need be.

It was tough, but she was almost at a full gallop now. Her muscles were loosening very slowly, but the black mare could already tell that there was a difference. Hopefully that stallion's good luck wish would carry some weight as she ventured through the territories, it felt like she was almost out of this one, just a little further ...
Another stag popped up just a few moments later. She wasn't stopping this time, she didn't care if he had some sort of salvation to offer her, or if he was in dire need of assistance. No more, she had to keep running. As she drew closer, she heard him start to speak, and this only confirmed her suspicion. The stallion carried the same tone as all the other southern stags -except for that one of course- This pushed her to go faster, and like the last one, she circled a wide half circle around him.
She didn't even acknowledge his presence as she kept pushing. Though, at of the corner of her eye, she noticed that they were about the same height. So in a real fight, she may actually have a shot at victory. Calista pushed her legs to go faster. At this point, she knew that she passed the stag, but she wasn't sure where he was now. She refused to check. If she turned back to look for him over her shoulder, she risked running into something, or tripping over the rugged train.
The black fae wondered if this one would follow her into the next territory.

Viggen thought that he was blocking this mare good but that was not the case as she just went out and around the large dapple grey stallion. Viggen blinked his eyes for a few moments not believing that this mare didn't even stop like most to talk. Lucky that Viggen knew most of Hidden Oasis and its layout. And Viggen was counting on that this mare had no idea where she was at. Viggen then lifted up and then turned so as to start to pursue this mare. If she wanted to be prey then Viggen could accommodate her by being the predator. He then started to gallop at close to full speed so as to close the distance between them. He then turned to the right and then went full out. Viggen was trying to either get out in front and then cut her off. Or he could run right into her side and so knock her off balanced or to the ground. Anything was better than to let her be able to continue on her way unopposed. No this mare was trespassing and so had to pay the price, and that price was to become his sire's newest breeder slave to help make the herd grow bigger and stronger.
Viggen then seen an opening and took it as he sliced on in from the left and ran right into the mare at close to full speed. He then cut her off looking at her and then saying.
" Since you seem to just think you can come onto my territory unannounced and use it. I don't think so mare, as there is a price to pay and I think it is time for you to pay it my dear. So again my name is Viggen. So do you have a name or do I continue calling you what ever I see fit to call you mare."
Viggen was real close to losing patients with this intruding mare but he was going to allow her just this one last chance at being friendly, before just saying to heck with it and then forcing her to come with him then being gifted to Niacin. He looked her over and noticed all the little nips and bite marks on her body. This mare could be a runner, Viggen now was hoping that her last master would never come looking for her and so he could give her to his sire to add to his fathers harem. He waited for a response from this mare be it vocal or physical he was ready for it.

The force that pushed her off balance was enough to knock her to the ground, and at the speed she was going, she continued to slide on her shoulder. She felt the rugged earth tearing away at her skin, cutting her up even more. Though, she was too exhausted to stand up, or even raise her head to look at her assailant. She lay there panting in a desperate attempt to take in lost air. She lay on her side as the dust clouds stirred around her.
He had started speaking, but for the first few moments, she couldn't understand him. But it didn't take the stag long to completely irritate her. "You know what .... I'm sorry I left hoof prints in your dirt ... forgive me, for I have sinned." She gasped for the air she lost to say that. But it had been worth it. She picked her head up for a moment to try and look at the stallion speaking to her. But all she had time to see was the same dapple grey that she had saw earlier.
He wanted her name, but she didn't want to give it to him. She didn't want her former master to find her just in case she did actually escape. No, instead she was going to head him off and insult him in the same sentence. "How about ... you call me slave, worthless, stupid, scum, or whatever is commonly used around this part." Calista stopped to breathe. Her lungs were calming down, but she was still felt a tightness when she inhaled. "And I'll call you ... a pretentious jerk with a god-complex" The black fae looked up once more to show the venom in her eyes.
She wasn't about to get her spirit taken away from this little bit. She was almost the exact same physical type as he was. The difference was, that she had a cause to fight for.

Viggen when he collided with the mare was short winded himself but he needed not worry about the mare as she was now on the ground and so easy to tower over. That is what he did was went up and stood over the black mare, other than all the wounds on her body she would of been very pretty and a mare worth keeping. So he then picked his ears up and so was trying to pick up the words that this mare was now speaking. Seems like she had a little bit of sarcasum as she then said she was sorry that she left her hoof prints all over Hidden Oasis and that she had sinned. Oh how right she was on the latter part she would pay for her sins as she said. But right now Viggen listen to more of what she had to say. Viggen could not believe what she said next, she said that he could use slave, scum, or slut or what ever he called mares around here. Viggen then let out an evil chuckle and showed a lewed smile before speaking.
" Ok, if that is your wish you are just a breeder around here my fair little brood mare. If that is your wish to be called that then I'll gladly do it. So now breeder do you have a name or would you like this to become your new name?"
Viggen would love nothing more if this mare kept up with causing problems as he would then start to break her and so get her ready for his sire to take her for himself. Viggen sure knowed how to play the diplomatic game around here so as to maintain the peace. He knew how to get on the good side of most stallions and so not have to worry about them coming and stealing his slaves for themselves. He really didn't need his sire to get angry and then try to kick the younger stallion out of his future home and land Hidden Oasis. Viggen was wondering if Niacin would love this new breeder or not. He would find out soon enough when he dragged this mare before the larger draft stallion for him to examine and so either approve or reject her.

Actually, she was surprised. Calista had been expecting a physical assertion of dominance of her statement. She had been sarcastic, rude, disrespectful, insulting. Pretty much all the ingredients it took to be abused. But he did nothing, he just called her a name. One she didn't appreciate. Actually, probably one of the worse ones he could call her. The black mare had just escaped on the way to the breeding grounds that morning.
She had already birthed one colt without a choice. She didn't plan on going down that route again. No, the mare would rather kill herself before she let that happen ... if that's what it came to. Of course she would try every escape plan she could come up before hand. But this stallion still hadn't made a move to physically restrain her. She was expecting him to stand on her and hold her down until she gave in. But still. Nothing. She wasn't going to allow this opportunity to escape. Especially since her breathing returned to normal.
"Fine by me!" The black fae spat as she hauled herself up off the ground. He didn't say anything else, but she saw that he was spinning ideas around in his head. By the way the previous stallion described the leader of this herd, she thought he would be more ... aggressive than this little bit. Calista wasn't impressed, so there was no way this could be the "leader" of this herd.
She shook the dust off that clung to her pelt. After you could see the more true black color of her coat, she started examining her new scrapes and wounds. Her hip was pretty much unscathed from her fall, but there was a huge new wound that covered most of her right shoulder blade. Wonderful. She hoped the fur would grow back when it healed.
Calista glanced back to her assailant. Her muscles were tensed to prepare for his next move. With the allotted time to rest, she felt slightly better.
