Name: Cybele
Gender: Mare
Age (yr 4): 5 years
Region: South
Physical Appearance: Like her older sister, Cybele is a quarter horse. She’s shorter than Rhea, standing only 14hh, and while she’s a quick runner as any of her breed, she’s not as fast as Rhea either. However, while Rhea’s body was marred by scores of scars, Cybele’s remains pristine, untouched by the teeth of her masters as she was always such a passive and obedient creature. Because of this her beauty was allowed to bloom. Her palomino coat is a lovely shade of gold that glints in the sunlight, and her mane and tail are silky and white. She has a long white black and four white socks.
Personality:
good: friendly, compassionate, obedient, loyal, gentle
bad: naive, too trusting, easily manipulated, dependent, flighty
History:
Cybele made a much more agreeable slave than her older sister. Her obedience and gentility were noted and pleased her masters, especially once they realized what a beauteous mare she would be when she was grown. Cybele would not describe her adolescence as a good one, but she can look back on some of those days with fondness, which is more than can be said of Rhea. Cybele remembers a loving mother and sister who watched over her and many friends, both fillies and colts, as her masters encouraged their sons to be friendly, yet forceful and commanding, around her, as she would one day make good breeding stock. This, unfortunately, was how she and her sister’s plans for escaping almost fell apart. After the death of their mother, Thea, Rhea swore to Cybele that they would one day leave the herd, a goal it took them two years to complete. Rhea had studied the guards’ movements and learnt as much as she could about the routes to the East lands until she felt certain they had a fool proof way to escape. What muddied up her careful planning were stallions’ interest in Cybele; a tournament of sorts had been called, the masters of the herd feeling it would be good sport and the young stallions completing feeling it would be worth it, for the winner would receive a small collection of young mares to start their own herd, Cybele being the main prize of the bunch. Fear of losing her sister to this, Rhea was forced to put their plan into motion three days ahead of schedule, on an unfortunately bright and cloudless night. The guard pursued them for so long that Cybele almost dropped from exhaustion, but their soon reached a dense wood where the sisters were able to lose them. They have been running for the East lands ever since.
