Personality: She has little in common with her sister Odessa. The only similarity is Helena's will to fight. But instead of fighting mares like her sister she fights stallions for her freedom. She knows nothing of the West or East, and though she was treated well by her father she was nothing but a trophy. She saw how her father beat other mares and forced them to have foals and always wondered if her mother had been forced as well. She wants nothing to do with the south ever again but she knows that being a runner may not last. Her beauty is a con too. Stallions as soon as looking at her will want her for her looks and she knows it. So she will be hard to find as she will hide from any horse she sees mare and stallion alike.
Helena has a few weaknesses, one is her fear of southern stallions, she can drive herself into a frenzy to get away from them and can hurt herself in the process. She is aggressive but nervous and will sometimes hesitate at the wrong time. She is not good with direction and gets lost easily, sometimes wandering into places other horses would stay clear of. And though she is beautiful and strong on the outside she is weak on the inside. She can get sick easier than other mares and will have a hard time conceiving and carrying foals when she comes of age.
History: Helena, like her sister Odessa, was born in the South. Her father was the most greedy and controlling stallion. He wanted all the beautiful and strong mares to be his and only his alone. He was so greedy that he wouldn't even let his own colts have any mares of their own. Helena's and Odessa's mother was the prettiest because of her all the white she had and was a favorite of her Master. But she died shortly after giving birth to Helena. She was an average sized foal but she was beautiful, and took more of her looks from her arabian blood making her leaner, where her sister Odessa took hers from the Thoroughbred and Percheron blood. Her father was protective of Helena and Odessa keeping them close to him always after his favorite mare died. They were all he had of her. For most of their youth Helena and Odessa were treated like queens though they were still under a short leash. But Helena was nothing like her sister Odessa, where she believed that stallions should rule Helena believed that they were just evil.
Odyssey's greed would soon bring his downfall. He was already an elderly stallion when Helena had been born and was weakening fast. His sons had left him to have their own herd and he was left with a fading herd. The stud even went so far as to force breed his own daughters, though Helena and Odessa were lucky to not be picked. When her father finally died Helena and her sister left along with other mares. Most were picked off by other stallions but Helena was able to keep herself free of the Southern stallions. Her sister went her own way but Helena ran as far as she could get from the south. She never wanted to return there again, she loved her freedom to much and prayed she could stay free forever.
